Theorbo

The theorbo was prominent from the 16th to the 18th century. During the baroque era, it was used for both basso continuo and as a solo instrument.

The theorbo is a variation of the lute. It is a plucked stringed instrument with 6-8 strings along the fingerboard and 8 off-the-fingerboard bass strings. These two sets of strings have their own peg boxes.
